June 16 - 21

This week-long urban retreat leading up to a Solstice and International Yoga Day celebration, offers an overview of self-care skills from the world of yog.

The first session on Sunday, (a complete workshop to itself) introduces each topic that will be covered in depth during the following evenings:

Yogic and Ayurvedic self-care:
Sunday June 16 th 🌸 10 am to 1:00pm
This 3-hour session will begin with locating our practices in the greater worldview and philosophy of Yog. We will then explore attitudes of engagement and distinguish what non-judgemental ‘being with’ is and how to do it with our self. We will learn what yogic examination is, the logic that governs this Swadhyay, or self-study (which includes completing an ayurvedic questionnaire). Following that, an overview of the 4 upcoming sessions’ techniques, and the 4 skills that will be covered in depth in the
evening sessions. We look at 4 areas:

Monday evening: 7-9pm
 body awareness – yoga

Tuesday evening: 7-9pm
 breath/mind – pranayam and study

Wednesday evening: 7-9pm
 creativity, joy – chanting and mantra

Thursday evening: 7-9pm
 meditation and transcendence

We will discuss how they each pertain to self-care and when they may be useful tools, and how best
to include them in the common moments of daily life.
This session will include a little restorative yoga to embody the non-judgemental examination and learn the first of the self-scan techniques that this week retreat offers. Also, because it is yummy!

This urban retreat culminates in an evening of chanting by Satroopa and Eva Julia :
Chanting Concert Friday June 21 st 🌸 7-9:30 pm
An evening of celestial songs is offered, followed by a home-made Indian vegetarian meal.
Come celebrate International Yoga Day and the spring solstice with Eva Julia and Satroopa chanting ancient yogic mantras with a modern feel, interlaced with small moments of quiet stillness.
Welcome 🙏
